Dependable Productions has produced two training DVDs for the Association of Greater Manchester Primary Care Trusts lead by the Greater Manchester Health Protection Agency. The DVDs are presented by Vivienne Parry. Each includes a short background film including many expert contributors, such as the HPA's Jonathan Van Tam, explaining what pandemic influenza is and how it spreads. There are then specialist sections aimed at six different healthcare settings. DVD1 is for hospitals, GPs surgeries, care homes & prisons where there is a possibility that it may be necessary to use a respirator. DVD2 is for domiciiiary carers and undertakers. The training section details infection control measures that should be adopted by all staff to limit their chance of infection and of infecting others. Covering such things as hand washing technique, appropriate PPE and patient management techniques to limit infection.
Since producing the DVDs for Greater Manchester we have, at their request, distributed them to many other health authorities or similar organisations that that offer services that would benefit from using the DVDs. The training is only approriate for those working in one of the settings described.
