Still the mainstay of corporate TV requirements. It may be for internal or external communications, training, investors or a video news release. We will work with you to ensure you deliver a clear consistent message with credibility and integrity.
Good film making relies on a clear editorial understanding of the subject matter and an appropriately creative visual approach. You must also understand who the audience is, where they will watch the film and get a feel for what will grab and keep their interest. Deciding on a duration is also important. This should appropriate to the level of content. You may also wish to consider the use of music and graphics within a film.
Above all, we pride ourselves on films which your audience will believe. We will always strive to use real people rather than actors. We will consider the film from the audience's perspective. If you are selling a product, why should a potential client believe you when you say it's great? They are much more likely to believe your clients - their competitors. It's for this reason that Infor's customer testimonial films are all based around their client's experience of their software for instance. Understanding how to make TV which the audience will believe is a skill of which we are very proud.
All we need to start the ball rolling is an idea of what you're trying to achieve and a rough idea of budget and we can then begin the process of offering some ideas. We'll then prepare a written proposal and budget which forms the basis of the productions. The production consists of four phases:
The process generally begins with an outline script or running order at the very least. This will form the backbone of the subsequent production. There is generally quite a bit of logistics planning to do as well from identifying locations, booking interviewees and any resources which may be required for the filming process along with transport and accommodation where appropriate. This is generally like doing a complicated blank jigsaw with missing pieces - we always get there but never in the way we imagine when we start.
Filming days are the expensive part of any production as the crew will be at its largest. It's important they are well planned and structured to produce all the material in the plan, and hopefully a little extra. They are generally great fun but more time consuming than most initially expect. Good TV never happens by accident and setting up the cameras, lights and sound to maximise the impact of a location does take time.
Clients rarely see this phase although they are welcome to. This is when the raw material (or 'rushes') are logged, digitised and edited. Graphics, including name strap lines (or 'Astons') and music are added as is the voice-over should one be required. Once the film is complete it may need to be put onto DVD which requires a process known as 'authoring'. This would also be the point at which the film is compressed for use on a website or in a presentation.
At this point, clients and contributors see the finished film to check it meets with their approval prior to distribution. Our clients have access to Dependable Production's unique approval process. All clients are allocated a secure area of this website where their work is available to view. Once they are happy with the content, appropriate versions are provided on DVD, CD or Tape.
